Eskimo
The Eskimo company was founded in 1906 as a shop close to the Saint-Jacobs church in Ghent-Belgium; trading in knitwear and mercerie goods.

The thirties were very important for the further expansion of the company with the arrival of interlock cotton knitwear. This fabric, exceptionally elastic and nice to wear, was ideal for the production of comfortable and high quality underwear. A production unit was started in Ronse, soon to be followed by a second factory in Meulebeke.

Unlike today, people used to put on underwear mainly to keep warm. For a long time already, Eskimo has also specialised in the production of this type of product. The brandname and the warmly dressed Eskimo of the logo are obvious symbols for "cozy warmth" and "feeling good". Until today, Eskimo has a high reputation on thermal underwear. The "Anthartic" product line was recently selected best buy by Belgium's consumer organisation "Test aankoop".

A next step was the development of nightwear. This being a product category where quality and a careful selection of the right fabric is highly important, the accumulated expertise of underwear production was very useful.

In 1970 the company moved to the Wiedauwkaai in Ghent, into the buildings of the former "Usines Cotonnières Indienneries Belges". These became later on the "Ekimofabriek", until today well known as an event hall.

Since 1996 the company is based in Melle and a subsidiary was opened in Paris.

Today our products can be bought in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain and Libanon.
